NESS NOST

Ness Nost is an outspoken soulful storyteller with a cheeky dash of feminine rage. "Nöst's melancholy, biting and sentimental songwriting — her work's stripped down production harkens to the artists who focus on telling stories through their lyricism, building worlds with words." -Exclaim! Nost (hailing from Ottawa Canada) grew up with musical influences like Joni Mitchell, CSNY, and The Beatles. It was during her years studying Theatre in Montreal that she got into the jazz scene, as a vocalist. Nost took her music out West in 2016 where her songwriting landed a spot as a Musician In Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts (BMIR program) where she produced her first professional single “Meridian.” Performing over 210 shows in recent years, Nost now focuses on her recording career. In 2023 Nost raised $7000 independently for her self produced debut EP “Working Hours,”-a semi autobiographical body of work that “courageously delves into the complexities of the service industry, shedding light on the plight of countless women facing societal pressures and unwarranted advances.”(Wax Vynil UK) The first three singles have been heard on Soho Radio London UK, CITR, Radio Western. "Working Hours" released in Feb 2024, following a feature in Exclaim Magazine and a full interview with RANGE Magazine who dubbed Nost a "Modern Day Working Class Folk Hero." Nost recently completed a cross Canada tour of her debut EP from West to East and is about to release her second EP “Glimmers” which is set to release fall 2024.

janïsa

janïsa is a Toronto born singer, songwriter who grew up in the prairies of Alberta singing hymns in her mother's church and sneaking in the frequency of secular Pop R&B hits on an old bedroom alarm clock radio that sat innocently on her night table. Now janïsa bridges the gap between two disparate musical worlds. She merges the intimacy and introspection of a singer-songwriter with the rich aesthetic of Roots, Soul and R n B. janïsa’s musical work is a perfect expression of the sanctities, and sometimes the sorrows, that attach themselves to life and finding one’s self. She is a beguiling artist with a troubadour’s commitment to lyric and story. janïsa has performed over 10,000 hrs across the country in multiple venues and festivals like the Canadian Music Festival, NXNE, Canadian Music Week, Manifesto Festival, Vancouver Island Music Festival and much more.
