Sofar is a global community with a mission to create space where music and arts matter. These guidelines serve as a compass for behavior across our global community, which includes employees, event attendees, artists, Curators, crew, hosts, and anyone else associated with Sofar events in person or online. By participating as a member of the Sofar community, you agree to comply with our Community Guidelines, our terms & conditions as well as local laws and regulations at all times. Together, we collectively contribute to the creation of a diverse and vibrant community where music and arts thrive and everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected.
At Sofar, we’re guided by three core values:
Inclusivity, safety, and respect are cornerstones of our community and integral to the Sofar experience. Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels valued and welcomed, diversity is celebrated, and interactions are characterized by empathy and understanding. At Sofar, inclusivity means embracing people from all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, disability, or health status. It's about fostering an environment where every voice is heard and every person is seen.
Respect, in the Sofar community, is shown by treating one another with kindness and consideration. We expect our community members to actively listen to each other's perspectives, to engage in discussions with an open heart, and to challenge their own biases.
Discriminatory behavior, bullying, harassment, hate speech, or any form of intolerance is not tolerated at any Sofar performance or online. We do not allow any actions or speech that promotes violence or hatred against individuals or groups based on age, disability, ethnicity, cultural or gender identity, immigration status, religion or sexual orientation. Threatening or targeted malicious behavior is strictly prohibited including use of racial, religious, or other slurs and stereotypes that incite or promote hatred based on protected group status; conspiratorial claims that individuals or groups are evil, corrupt, or malicious based on their protected group status; denial or minimization of a well-documented, major violent event or the victimhood of such an event; promotion of hateful supremacism by alleging the superiority of a group over those with protected group status to justify violence, discrimination, segregation, or exclusion.
Sofar shows and online spaces should be places of safety and understanding, where everyone can enjoy the transformative power of music and the arts without fear of harassment or discrimination.
Hosts play an integral role in our community, and we ask that you show them the respect and consideration they deserve for generously opening their homes and businesses to provide unique spaces for our shows. Vandalism and theft are unacceptable at any Sofar event or space, including stealing belongings of others in attendance, such as guests, staff, and artists.
At Sofar, we deeply value the investment of time and effort made by every member of our community to make this a special experience. When you attend a Sofar event, you are part of a unique and shared experience where people come together to celebrate music and the arts and create unforgettable moments.
We kindly ask all community members to be mindful of this collective commitment, and by upholding these principles, we can create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy music and the arts together through Sofar, around the world and online.
