RENAE ADAMS

Renae Adams is an advocate + artist, a singer + songwriter, an actress + an auteur, a comedienne + composer, a director, event planner, filmmaker, gardener, host, improvisor, ‘jill’ of all trades, lyricist, model, never to confine to one label such as painter, poet, producer, she is a renaissance woman, or rather, a ‘Renae’-ssance ‘hue’-man. Renae has studied performance art at Washington University in St. Louis, Marymount Manhattan College and Actors Studio London. Honored to have lived + performed professionally on both stage and screen in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, London + Dublin, Ireland, she is grateful to now call Saint Louis her home + wholeheartedly believes that our entire city lives up to the Forbes Magazine title of “the most exciting emerging arts district in America”. The founder of The Evergreen Social Society (TESS), an underground art collective whose aim is to create cultural change through creative engagement. In association with TESS, Renae co-curates experiential art installations, “PAINT JAMS”, each with a chosen color to align artistic intentions of UNION.M.O (the spectrum of collaborators). Each PAINT JAM, hosted on the 22nd day of the month, weaves the thematic color with two causes. “THE PURPLE PARTY”, co-produced with Jared Lewis, a social justice performance art group installation, intended to raise awareness for and rebalance the disparities in performative representation, with a current focus on the racial injustices both past and present in Saint Louis; Advocacy Co-Chair of the Alzheimer’s Association STL,“THE PURPLE PARTY” is also, in part, to raise awareness for the disease, which disproportionately affects BIPOC communities. Beyond “PAINT JAMS”, the boards + beloved dive bars, drag shows + house parties, Renae collaborated in the all-female performance art piece, “Sea Change II”, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. With audacious hope + feminine resilience, Renae smiles to see change we create together, here+abroad.
