Matt Muse

A rapper and creative director from Chicago, Matt Muse burst onto the Chicago music scene with his performance at the 2016 “AAHH Fest!” alongside J. Cole, Common, Vic Mensa, The Roots, and more. With dynamic lyricism, his signature crown of “nappy” hair, and a one-of-a-kind live performance, Matt has become a mainstay in Chicago Hip-Hop. His new EP So Far, So Decent was released September 19, 2023 and featured on Pitchfork’s ‘Pitchfork Selects’ playlists (Spotify & Apple Music), the Apple Music editorial ‘New Chicago’ playlist, and Lyrical Lemonade. Following the release of his first two EP’s, The SiKK Tape (2017) & Nappy Talk (2018), Matt released his latest and most vulnerable EP LOVE & NAPPYNESS on August 9th, 2019 to a host of praise and acclaim. He collaborated with Apple to premiere the self-directed music video for the EP’s single ‘MYSELF’ at Chicago’s Apple Michigan Avenue flagship store on August 11th, and the EP was featured as Bandcamp Daily’s ‘Album of the Day’ upon its release. On August 17, 2019, Matt performed in front of a sold out crowd at Chicago’s famed Schubas Tavern for the release show of LOVE & NAPPYNESS, with the show receiving praise from the Chicago Sun Times & the Chicago Reader. He released the visual for the remix to SHOTGUN featuring femdot. on September 22, 2020. SHOTGUN was called Pitchfork’s “must-hear rap song of the day” on September 24th, 2020 and featured on Lyrical Lemonade’s September Spotify playlist In 2021 he released the singles Rockin’ (feat. Sherren Olivia), Bridges, & Rapport (feat. theMIND) with self-directed visuals accompanying the latter two songs. Rapport was featured on Apple Music’s ‘The New Chicago’ playlist and the Lyrical Lemonade’s Spotify playlist following its October 2021 release.
