It\u2019s packed to the brim with gorgeous observations of life\u2019s varying oppositions: naive and jaded, love and hate, trust and betrayal. Hits include \u201cCome Down Soon\u201d, \u201cI Guess\u201d, and \u201cDrunk, Running\u201d \u2013 the latter a sobering track about a partner\u2019s struggle with alcoholism. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lizzymcalpine.com\/tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catch McAlpine on tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across North America through August, and in Europe in October.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The record is about love, losing the ones we love, and, well, growing older. The Alaskan\u2019s first full-length since 2019\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wild<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, this album\u2019s quality was hinted at by several well-received singles <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sofarsounds.com\/blog\/articles\/sofar-artist-news-march-2024\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which we\u2019ve covered in the past<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Now with the full release, we can\u2019t stop bopping our heads to this new direction: more vulnerable, more heartfelt, more colorful, even jazzier (just listen to the horns on \u201cStick Around\u201d). Luckily, if you can\u2019t make one of these shows, you can hear one of the artists from the Incubator anytime you like.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u00c9A THE LEOX dropped a live album called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/640WPbwAINM9dn1VCjC60o?si=YkqeQuPkRpWBxaUoV4Lqyw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live From Salt Lick Sessions<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which features six tracks from the Salt Lick studio. Backed by a full band, she weaves tales of empowerment and individuality, all against the backdrop of introspective R&amp;B and her powerful voice. The result is likely something like Hannah Connolly\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/0nsCjG8CCcllGXgE9Zb11J?si=Koxza-7rSMqVgxpM0O_nRg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shadowboxing<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connolly, an LA resident by way of Eau Claire, WI, mixes the country folk of Shania Twain and Sheryl Crow with the more electronic manipulations of contemporary rock. She won Best Female Artist at the 2021 Les Victoires de la Musique (a.k.a the French Grammys).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/5WmkM5GNTQK7P8FJn24iL4?si=a1a822ad247d4af7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cQui a tu\u00e9 grand\u2019maman?\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is no exception. The song, whose title translates to \u201cWho killed Grandma?\u201d, is a cover of Michel Polnareff\u2019s 1971 release.
