What does Alaska sound like? It might sound a little like the music of Alaska-native Nick Carpenter, who writes and performs under the Medium Build moniker. The 32-year old sings with an old soul, blending soulful Americana with modern ennui. He captures the landscape, expansive yet insular. He captures a longing, a yearning for something bigger and better. But throughout all of his lyrics is a gratitude for what he has: family, friends, home, even the waning love of an ex.
Medium Build has been building big momentum over the past few years, with four albums, a couple of EPs, and a slew of singles under his belt. His song “I Love Cherry” from 2019’s Wild was featured in the second season of the Gossip Girl reboot and brought Carpenter newfound attention. He’s since toured with both Lewis Capaldi and FINNEAS. This February and March he’ll join Holly Humberstone on her European tour, before returning to the United States for a massive tour.
