Maybe you’re past the age of trick-or-treating (by, a lot), but still looking for a little Halloween fun? Well, turns out some of Sofar’s unexpected venues can feel a whole lot like ghostly spaces to get you in the scary holiday mood. How you might ask? Well, take a look below.
A gothic chapel
On the 2nd of November, step into the hauntingly beautiful Rosslyn Hill Chapel in Hampstead, London—a gothic gem built in 1692. With its eerie stained glass windows casting shadows and a vibe straight out of Dracula’s castle, this historic chapel sets the perfect stage for a night of spine-chilling thrills. Prepare for an unforgettable evening where the gothic atmosphere is thick, and the frights are real.
An empty warehouse
Maybe it’s the cavernous industrial space that makes us question what’s hiding in the dusty corners, but an empty warehouse can be a little frightening. Best to huddle with some buddies and let the artists chase the ghosts away with their songs. (Don’t be too scared, this is actually the lovely brewery Frontaal Brewerij in the Netherlands— Breda, to be exact.)

The cemetry
Nothing really screams Halloween like a dark night between gravestones at the cemetery (this one in particular is in Philadelphia, PA). Maybe the moon is huge and yellow, or the clouds have swallowed up the sky, there’s still that eerie yet peaceful feeling of being among the living and the dead spanning centuries. And with a little live music? Now that’s even better.

The neon-lit office
Is this actually a super friendly intimate gathering in Dallas, TX at The Creatives Factory? Why yes. But, using your imagination, isn’t there something about the neon-lit office room that makes you wonder if the fluorescent lights might start flickering on their own, and an ‘80s thriller could possibly unfold before your eyes?

A dungeon
Need we really explain? An underground, medieval space that might as well be a haunted house. Actually, this one kind of is— it’s the London Dungeon on the South Bank, an attraction that mixes fright and humor through rides, special effects, and live action. But what about peppering a little live music?

A studio that comes alive after dark
While Latvia is known for its mysterious and supernatural folklore, it only makes sense that it would provide residence to some eerie venues! The IMAGINE Fotostudija boasts a shadowy photo studio and co-working space by day and a music venue by night. Are you ever really alone at the IMAGINE Fotostudija? Find out for yourself, if you dare!
Anywhere near The Addams Family
A room bathed in red light with The Addams Family on the big screen in the background? That’s just downright fun and ghostly. You bring the candy, we’ll bring the tunes. (Sidenote: this exact room is Tinker House in Indianapolis, IN.)
