This October is packed with news from Sofar artists, featuring fresh singles, upcoming EPs, and a slew of VIP tour dates. From familiar favorites to rising stars, there’s a little something for every fan. Grab your headphones (and maybe a calendar)—here’s everything you need to know this month!
1. Boston locals Otis Shanty have just released their sophomore album Up on the Hill. This blend of indie rock and alternative folk sets an easy-listening stage for coming-of-age reflection, with mentions of life’s highs, lows, and everything in between. With catchy guitar riffs and rave reviews, we’re confident you’ll enjoy the album without skips.
2. Nell Mescal is an emerging artist you’ll want to keep on your radar, especially after her song “In My Head” landed in the show Heartstopper. The track’s haunting, dreamy energy perfectly captures her emotional, introspective sound. With new music, including EPs and singles from earlier this year, she’s been on a serious roll.
Psst… if you’re in London, catch her live on November 15th!
3. AJ McQueen just dropped his new single “Don’t Settle Down,” blending sharp lyrics and powerful energy with his signature hip-hop style. You’ll want this on your morning motivation playlist. He’s also heading out on the Sit Yuh Self Down tour, kicking off in Los Angeles on November 1st. If you’re into hard-hitting hip-hop with a touch of 90’s nostalgia, this is one tour you don’t want to miss.
4. Medium Build has been racking streams with his new single “Triple Marathon.” His unique blend of indie-pop, alt-rock, and a hint of country provides a glimpse of what’s to come in his fresh EP, set to drop on November 15th. He’s currently on an international tour — we recommend catching him if he’s in a city near you!
5. BEL, an up-and-coming favorite, lends her dreamy indie-pop sound to Beach Weather’s latest single, “Dead Beat Blues,” adding a smooth, airy touch to the track. She’s been making waves on her solo tour, which just wrapped up on October 21st. Let’s just say we wouldn’t be mad at more tour dates… Until then, give her a listen below:
6. NYC-artist Sarah Michelle Lee just released her track, “The Whole Sea,” marking her first song as a solo artist. She may sound familiar to anyone who attended one of the 19(!) Sofar shows with her band monarch. Lee brings a delicate and distinctive blend of alt-pop to the cool, sad girl genre. You don’t need to be sad to put this single on repeat—just ask Billie Eilish and Boygenius fans. Check out her music video for “The Whole Sea.”
7. Get your glass of whiskey ready for this one—Simeon Hammond Dallas is gearing up to release a new EP, now available for pre-order. Following the success of her single “Do I Die?” earlier this year, we’re ready to hear her effortless style of country, blues, and folk when she opens for Sofar alum’s Wandering Hearts this December!
8. Who doesn’t love a show that inspires a little dancing? Michael Sebastian is hitting the road for his Move tour, bringing his smooth mix of funk, soul, and R&B to stages across the UK. Get ready to groove—his shows are known to get you on your feet! Check out tour dates and snag your ticket.
