For this October’s Sofar Artist News, we’ve got major labels, soccer matches, tours, and releases. It’s a whole lot of goodness, so let’s get right to it.
We really just can’t say enough about Madeline Edwards. She was one of Sofar’s 2021 standout artists—but we weren’t the only ones keeping tabs on Edwards. The artist has officially signed with Warner Music Group-Nashville, so keep your eyes peeled for releases on the horizon. But in the meantime, we’re still binge watching this Sofar performance.
Texas-based hip-hop artist Mama Duke has been making some waves in the longhorn state, having recently performed at the renowned Austin City Limits Festival, along with a cameo on the TV show We Are Austin, and another performance at an Austin FC soccer match. It’s hard to say where we’ll find the artist next, which makes it even more of a lucky treat to have seen the artist in this small room in San Antonio, TX.
NYC and DC alum Adam Melchor might bringing his folky pop to a city near you soon. The artist is currently on tour with Noah Kahan around the U.S., so keep an eye out for the chance to hear Adam play his new single “Cry” live. If you can’t make it to a show, there’s always this enchanting 2017 Sofar performance.
And speaking of NYC alum, Raina Sokolov Gonzalez also has some dates on the horizon. The artist just played her silky smooth tunes at a sold out show at Public Records in NYC, and will be heading out to the west coast for a string of dates. What’s that? You can’t make it??? No problem, there’s still this cozy Sofar home performance for you.
Last up for the month, we’ve got a new song from Seattle, WA alt-rockers Among Authors. The track, “Fears We Hold”, is an uplifting anthem written by singer Ian Ketterer as a way to tackle a lifelong anxiety that stems from being born without a right thumb or right ear. It’s about celebrating ourselves, as ourselves, something we can all always hear.
