Doesn’t it feel like time is hauling at a wild speed? Well, let’s slow down for a minute to see what our Sofar artists have been up to lately.
1. We’re big fans of Madeline Edwards. In fact, she was one of our 2021 standout artists, alongside some outrageously talented artists like 2021 NPR Tiny Desk winner Neffy, and Jake Wesley Rogers…but back to Madeline Edwards— you might have the chance to see her live as she just kicked off a tour supporting Chris Stapleton that’ll go through August around the U.S… We’re ready to see her on the big stage, but we also can’t get over this intimate performance she gave us back in 2020.
2. And speaking of tours, artist Maya Elise and her band The Good Dream are on the open road throughout the U.S. for the summer. We haven’t had the chance to capture one of her Sofar performances on video, you just have to come out to a show to see that magic, but we love this live session she did of “Better Bird”.
3. A belated congratulations to Sofar alum Lindsay Clark for her lush new LP, Carpe Noctem, a collection full of tender, nuanced folk songs. We got an early taste of the album back in 2019 with her performance of “Indigo Dye” at Sofar Pisa.
4. Last but certainly far from least, we’ve got a new video from Joseph Lawrenson, an artist alum with his former band Dancing Years, and previous curator for Sofar Leeds. The artist recently released his new album Songs for Film, a collection of arrangements of classical pieces, followed by a few tracks redone as The Britten Theatre Session. Here’s a look at “I Still Love You” featuring the artist IMOGEN, a lush, breathtaking performance not to be missed.
