This month’s Sofar Artist News is full of firsts: debut solo albums (and their anniversaries), reunions, and artists visiting new cities for unique and intimate shows you won’t want to miss.
It’s your Sofar Artist News for August.
- Can you believe how fast time flies? Seattle’s Noah Gundersen released his debut solo album, Ledges, 10 years ago. To celebrate, he’s going on an anniversary tour this autumn, with Sofar VIP packages available that include a private pre-show acoustic performance (requests allowed!) and a Q&A opportunity with Noah.
You can also check out a couple of reissued tracks for the 10th anniversary!
2. The new song from Irish singer-songwriter Blánid, “Funeral Suit”, is a beautiful slowburn about existentialism that features haunting harmonies and a gorgeous groove. Oh, and the music video is one of the coolest we’ve seen in quite some time:
3. Got requests? NYC Americana trio The Lone Bellow hit the road September through November for their “By Request Only” tour. Build your dream setlist, submit it before the show, and the band will curate a setlist based on audience requests. For an even more unique experience, grab a VIP ticket to meet the band and get an exclusive pre-show performance.
4. We love when bands get back together. After nearly 25 years, Soul Coughing are reuniting for a special tour. Come out to see all four original members on stage for the first time in over two decades. Oh, and this tour coincides with the 30th anniversary of their debut album, the influential Ruby Vroom. VIP packages are available, and they include early entry and an autographed tour poster.
5. Sofar alum Rozzi sang background vocals for Billie Eilish (also a Sofar alum!) at this recent performance from Amazon Music’s Songline series. Eilish sang “WILDFLOWER” from her album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, released earlier this year.
6. Hey Australia! UK musician and tastemaker Fink is heading your way this November. He’ll play six beautiful, intimate venues from Geelong to Sydney. Don’t miss out on seeing this incredible songwriter perform live. You can also pick up an exclusive vinyl bundle of Fink’s music.
7. London singer-songwriter Eleni Drake dropped a single in two parts, “Singing Elvis, Pts. 1 & 2”. “Pt. 1” features Drake backed by just plucked guitar, while “Pt. 2” picks up the pace and includes rapid drumming and a heavier tone.
