Rooftop venues in North America

Boston, MA

Brickyard VFX

Brickyard is a Boston-based female-owned digital production studio skilled in high-end visual effects, animation, design, and creative development for advertising, feature films, and emerging media. They’ve made ads for Progressive, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Snickers, to name just a few.

Their stunning rooftop space played host to a few Sofar shows, including a pair this year that featured artists such as Sneaky Miles, Aysha Luzia, and Ben Cosgrove.

Hopservatory at Dorchester Brewery

Dorchester Brewery is a community hub in Boston, serving up pints of cider and beer for locals and supplying restaurants with brews. It started as a brewing facility to support smaller local craft breweries, to meet production demands for the burgeoning craft beer industry. In 2020, they added a glass-walled conservatory, aptly named the “Hopservatory”, where you can catch the occasional Sofar show: like the show coming up on August 22, featuring Alex & the People and Jill McCracken. 

Washington D.C Area

The Thompson Hotel

The Rooftop at the Thompson Hotel offers a 360-degree view of the Navy Yard waterfront. It’s got floor-to-ceiling windows so you can take in the city (including nearby Nationals Park) from the comfort of a trendy bar, and when the sun’s out, you can hang out on the terrace. 

We’ve hosted shows here for the last couple of years, with the most recent show in April. This one featured Do D.A.T., Justina Beth-El, and Ryan Burns. 

Arlington Tower

An office building with breathtaking views of the city, Arlington Tower is located in Arlington, Virginia, just across the river from Washington. Get to the rooftop and see Georgetown, or get to a Sofar show and see artists like Almira Zaky and Rock Creek Kings. 

New York, NY

Union Square Ventures 

Union Square Ventures is a small team who make investments “at the edge of large markets being transformed by technological and societal pressures”. The rooftop offers sweeping views of the City, and just a few weeks ago we hosted a show with Mountain Laurel, Margot MacDonald, and Kerry Blu. 

Vancouver, BC

Pavilion 

A coworking space in Vancouver’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, Pavilion is a favorite amongst the Sofar crowd. And with plenty of office and member perks, it’s a favorite amongst Vancouver emerging industry leaders, too. We hosted a Sofar on the Pavilion patio in July, featuring loserbirds, Connor Roff, MANYENYA, and Shelby Natasha, and we have another show coming up on August 24. 

Rooftop venues in Europe

London, UK

Prince of Wales Pub

Located in Brixton, The Prince of Wales pub offers a two-tier outdoor roof terrace that Time Out called “the best in London”. The pub hosts regular DJ House Parties, quizzes, and, of course, Sofar shows. Artists such as Nuala and Sols & The Nominees have played Sofar shows on this special rooftop.  

Vienna, Austria

Zoku Hotel

This award-winning hotel has a stunning rooftop with views of the infamous Prater (the second-oldest amusement park in the world) and its Wiener Riesenrad Ferris wheel. We hosted an unforgettable Sofar here in 2022, which featured Hikee Bikini, Philiam Shakesbeat, and Christoh:

Lisbon, Portugal

Sunset Destination Hostel

The rooftop of the Destination Hostel in Lisbon features a small swimming pool and the Lisbon bridge in the background. We hosted Mt. Roshi, Safari Zone, and Melquiades here back in June.

Lahore, Pakistan

Red Brick Studio

Red Brick Studio is a local musician’s studio in Lahore, Pakistan, which recently held a Sofar show on its rooftop to celebrate the New Year. 

We hosted Asfandyar, Anna Salman, Mohsin Zama, and Mughal e Funk here, for a night to remember.
