Friends,
Recently I was on a train, en route to Sofar Birmingham. A young man seated next to me commented on my Sofar beanie. He told me he was an artist, and had played Sofar shows more than 100 times. We chatted for a while, and he continued to share how much Sofar meant to him, along with ‘basically the whole planet’ of music lovers he knows. When we finally parted ways with a hug, he said his one wish has been to play music, and anyone who helps with that journey is changing his life.
That’s exactly why we do what we do. Sofar’s here to connect us, to be a place to uplift artists, and immerse ourselves in their beautiful music.
We consider ourselves so deeply fortunate to be a community of music lovers, connected from all over. Every corner of the world has something unique that deserves to be heard, whether it’s ambient music on a rooftop in Oslo, or stunning acoustic songs from an art gallery in Mexico City. I’m not going to rest until we’ve helped create spaces where artists far and wide can be spotlighted in their communities.
