We’ve got some outstanding artists in our October New Music Alert (including anaiis, who recently chatted with us), who’ve wowed us throughout the month. Before we head into November, here are a handful of videos from these New Music artists that we’ve been loving.
DAP The Contract “Love The World”
Dolapo Akinkugbe, known as DAP The Contract, wrote this one in part about the death of Ahmaud Arbery. This performance serves the Nigerian hip-hop producer’s vision in a full, tasteful way. Three seconds into this video, you’ll already be planning on watching it again…and again.
26 BATS! “For You” (Laura Marling Cover)
A lush, modest take on the Song for our Daughter track– 26 BATS! brings such a sweetness to this one (the Middle School band room helps with that, too). The whole band sounds great, but Bailey “26” Cogan really nails the dreamy vocals, through their mask and all. Check out our write up of 26 BATS! in last month’s New Music Alert!
OSTON Sofar Listening Room
No surprises here– we love a good Listening Room performance. This simple, stripped down set leaves ample room for the young singer’s pop-vocal pipes to really ring out. Our Private Virtual Concert MC Josh was right, OSTON is not to be missed.
Debi Nova “Dale Play”
Doused in redlight on the stage, Debi Nova and her band glide through this Latin pop dazzler of a tune.
Barabás Lőrinc – 4 songs
A one-man ambient band, Barabás Lőrinc loops and swirls layers of sonic textures to create wide open, at times eerie, landscapes. This video includes four songs from the Budapest-based artist– note: the second track, “Pad”, is a definite jam.
