Artists are integral to everything we do here at Sofar, and our partnership with Sony Electronics is just one way we’re able to give artists a solid platform to develop and perform their music.
Sony’s audio brand, For the Music, fosters comprehensive collaboration with artists, from creating music all the way through the end of the process: listening to it the way it was intended to be heard.
We wrote about For the Music back in December, where we shared some highlights from sets at Second Home – the two acre coworking campus in Hollywood.
Those initial events were so successful, we traveled south to JULEP in San Diego for another unforgettable evening of live music. Like last time, competition winners experienced the latest Sony technology with a curated playlist of music from the night’s lineup, and then got to watch those three incredible Sofar artists perform.
Now we’re stoked to share more performances from the most recent For the Music showcase last month.
The genre-bending Dominican-Irish Jame Minogue wowed the crowd with his song “Pleasure”, a bilingual groove complete with fuzzy guitar effects on an acoustic guitar: audio magic that only Sony is capable of capturing.
Magic doesn’t quite come close to describing Rachell Rivas’ soul-stirring performance of her song “Fit Anymore”. It’s a break-up song – jazzy, luscious – that bears no secrets. And Rivas’ powerful voice takes center stage.
Rounding out the lineup was San Diego’s Josue Vasquez, whose electric performance of “Under” lit the night up. We could have kept grooving to this one for a while after the band had stopped playing, but luckily we can stream it forever with a pair of Sony headphones.
