[Hear The Curator Mixtape here]
This month’s curated mixtape comes from Álvaro de la Parte, a dynamic curator running Sofar Madrid. After attending a Sofar in Edinburgh back in 2016, Álvaro began volunteering in Madrid, and now years later, he continues to put together inspiring shows throughout Spain’s capital. Hear the full playlist below, and learn a little bit about Álvaro.
Whats your creative outlet?
Álvaro: I have a lot of fun organizing theme parties with my friends in unusual places like caves, ranches or houses in the middle of the mountain, where we do performance art and DJing. My Dj project is called Pomelo Papaya, but you can’t see anything on the internet about it…. yet.
How long have you lived in Madrid?
I am originally from Valladolid, a city in northwestern Spain, and I moved to Madrid for college to take a degree in Media Studies in 2011. Except for a couple years living in Scotland or Estonia, Madrid has become my second home since then.
What’s your favorite thing to do in your city?
Celebrating Pride in early July, when the streets fill with people, color and music, which also kicks off the rest of the city’s Summer street festivals.
Anything we should know about your mixtape selections?
I have made a selection of music mainly in Spanish. Songs to be listened to with a good beer in the sun. Cheers!
