This April, these Sofar artists are bringing us all kinds of good vibes. We’ve got new mixtapes, singles, and TV performances from Sofar artists who are big parts of our community on and off stage. Here’s the April artist news.
1. A belated happy birthday to Mauvey, and a congrats for his new mixtape, BEFORE THE ALBUM 2: a brief overview. We’re feeling extra lucky we got to see this recent solo performance of “On the 14th”, which filled the room with warm synth textures, and Mauvey’s voice. (Also, after you listen through the album, be sure to watch Mauvey talk about his main influence for songwriting.)
2. We love when an artist takes us on a little bit of a journey with their releases, like the chapters Abigail Osborn has given us of Bad Lover EPs. This month, the artist shared the most recent acoustic sessions EP, stripped down, serene versions of these folk-pop instant favorites. Crank up for the soft jams to sing along.
3. We’ve got double Sofar April artist news here. Earlier this month Sofar alum Muni Long put on a gorgeous performance for the iHeart Radio Music Awards, backed by a stunning string section including none other than Sofar artist and Sofar artist booker Cam Parsons. Take a minute to check out Cam’s Sofar performance under the name January Muse, one of our favorite standout moments from 2022.
4. Have you heard Mandolin? If you haven’t, you will, because it’s only a matter of time before the artist starts blowing up on playlists with her ultra smooth R&B. She’s got a new single, “Honestly”, with a bass line that instantly sinks you into the track, and the artist’s honeyed vocals that hook you for the full song. While you’re in the groove, listen back to the Mandolin’s recent live session.
5. Last and certainly not least in april artist news, we gotta take a moment to celebrate Pacific K, aka Kristaps Bedritis, our wonderful Sofar curator in Riga, Latvia, who recently did a live television performance in Riga, and brought curated live shows back to the city. And if you missed it, be sure to check out Kristaps’ Sofar performance (and maybe catch the artist at a show, he’s always making new communities wherever he plays).
