Seeing music on a stage is fun and all, but what about shaking things up a bit, like watching a band play in Buckingham Palace, or sitting on fresh pine needles in the woods? We’ve got loads of unique spaces we get to hold Sofar shows in, but here are seven of the most interesting ones to date.
1. An Amusement Park
Something about the fusion of the energy of an amusement park and a live musical performance just feels like fireworks. If you find yourself in Beirut, Lebanon, make your way to Dream Park for a ride, and perhaps a live song. Take a seat, or hop on the carousel and get a whole new visual perspective of the performance.

2. The Cereal Bar
We might’ve misled you a bit…it’s not actually a cereal bar, this is WNDR museum, an interactive, contemporary art space in Chicago, IL. So what we’re saying is, it’s even cooler than a sole cereal bar. Because one day it could be the bar, and the next, it could be a completely new, mind-blowing exhibition backdropping your live music experience.

3. A Penthouse
A beautiful apartment with a stunning view of London, AND incredible string music? Yes, and yes, we’ll take it any day.

4. In a Library
When you think about it, a library’s kind of perfect for a show—the warm acoustics of paperbacks and bookshelves, and everyone already knows the rules—it’s a quiet space, except for the artist performing, of course.

5. The Engine Room
You can find this special space in Kelham Island Museum, which houses all kinds of archival materials that showcase Sheffield, England’s Industrial History. Oh, did we mention Kelham Island is a man-made island that’s more than 900 years old?

6. On a Terrace
We’re not taking any terrace, but the Green Terrace in Curitiba, Brazil. They’re taking the stage concept and making it into 3D art, and we’re obsessed with it.

7. A Volleyball Court
Ah, let’s wrap things in New York City at a Volleyball Court run by the Association of Volleyball Professionals. Imagine sitting in the soft sand, taking in the sunset, views of the city, and of course, the music.
