It’s no secret that Argentina has cultivated a vibrant music scene. Some of these artists are making some of the most important music of their career as well as setting their sights on the international stage. Here are five Argentinian artists to hear now, breaking through that you should have on your radar.
5 Argentinian Artists to Hear Now:
1. Lucía Tachetti
Ever since transitioning to electronic music with a pop feel, Lucía Tachetti has shown a penchant for brilliance and emotion. She has since toured with Holy Fuck in Europe as well as with Latinx pop royalty Jessie Reyes, and recently dropped her latest album, FLAPS, last March. As heard on this session, we can see she’s just as great in an acoustic setting.
2. Dom La Nena
Argentine/Brazilian Dom La Nena got her start in Buenos Aires, and has been making an impact on the French music scene for a few years now with her sonic eclecticism. Her cello has anchored her solo career as a singer-songwriter as well as her working in the duo Birds On a Wire, but we get to see a more rapturous side of her sound during this Sofar performance.
3. Daniela Spalla
Next up on Argentinian artists to hear is Daniela Spalla. With a penchant for sentimental rock songs, Daniela Spalla’s talent can be seen in this session where she commands sounds to her will. Since her days in the Argentinian scene, she has since been adopted by the Mexican scene and toured the U.S., and going even further in the future.
4. CA7RIEL
Argentina has a strong tradition of hip-hop within the Latin American scene and it continues to grow each day with even bigger names putting the scene up internationally. CA7RIEL is one such name, the charisma shining through from this session, onto to the big stages he’s currently playing.
5. Fémina
No one knows what the future of music will look like, yet we can bet emotion will remain at the center of it. Fémina has become a referent in Latin American folk pop thanks to their cathartic vocal harmonies—as heard here on “El Olvido”—which underlines their place in the future of Argentinian music and beyond.
